Company Description

N.C. NIELSEN'S HISTORY SINCE 1946

N.C. Nielsen is named after its founder. It all started when Niels Christian Nielsen opened a village smithy in 1946 on the same address in Balling where the company is located today. Like all other village smiths at the time, his main tasks were shoeing horses and forging iron rings for wheels but he also had a knack for seeing the possibilities in the increasingly mechanised farm industry. Gradually, he expanded his business with farm machines, concrete mixers and lifts for tractors.

In 1970, Niels Christian Nielsen took a decisive step which determined N.C. Nielsen's development from a local player to a nationwide company: He bought two used forklifts in Copenhagen which he sold quickly, revealing the potential of this type of machines.
